Creating and maintaining a meal plan that works for you is a real accomplishment, especially with the wealth of fad diets available to us.
Talking to your primary care physician, your naturopath, or your nutritionist is the first step in creating a real food diet that supports your best health and satisfies all your cravings (or at least many of them) is the first step.
It may seem like every doctor has a different definition of a healthy diet, but all can agree; the best diet is a plan that includes lean protein, leafy greens, vegetables, and fresh fruits.
Processed foods are sometimes unavoidable, but should truly be eaten at your own risk. Food intolerance testing can help you identify what foods should be strictly avoided, but the most important thing about eating is to remember the 80/20 rule. Eat well 80% of the time but if you can tolerate it and you want a friggin’ cupcake on your birthday, DO IT! And do it guilt free!
